Some statistics regarding military buildings and their units

Two questions:
What is the number in parenthesis after the building name?
How do you arrive at attack value? For instance, when I mouse over a spear on a battlefield, it says "Damage 4-6", but your attack figure is 7. And is the damage random within a range.
Also, is there more detail on the attack bonus? Like it seems that spears do extra damage to horses. What about other unit pair bonuses?
Great info about the slingers getting a bonus when standing on rock. Where can I get more great detail like that?

How to get to that damage is currently unknown (to me anyway). For more information about the randomness in damage, you can read this thread.

See the answers in black :)

I wish it was that easy :(

Unfortunately, the squares do not represent exactly 10% health each. However, this is something that's been worked on so we hope to tell the correct healing times in the near future :)

As an additional note: Rangers have stealth in forests. What that means? You are welcome to find out...

We are aware of the fact that this guide is outdated in certain respects, and that there are more recent ones. However, many people still use it for playing the game.
This explains why I locked the thread, yet will keep it for now for reference as well.
