You're entirely correct, @Agent327. Thanks for catching my mistake.

My apologies to everyone, for that bit of misinformation. To remove any doubt anyone might have, the official announcement of the current merging system can be found here.

Surprised you made it. I thought you read everything very thoroughly.
I guess it really stings, my suggestion that you should read what you're replying to. How long will it take you to get over it, do you think?

I don't read everything, and I'm pretty sure I've neither stated, nor insinuated that. However, if you got the impression that I've read the entire site, or the entire Internet, I was obviously not clear enough. This time, for your sake, I'll try to be as clear and specific as possible:
  • I always read the OP, and always the post I'm replying to.
  • I also read a dozen or more other posts in a thread where I'm replying,...
  • ...however, parts of such threads, especially long ones, I sometimes only scan.
  • Threads on this site, other than the ones I've replied in, I'm more likely not to have read, than to have read.
  • Things on the Internet in general, I'm incredibly unlikely to have read. I cannot overstate this: I have NOT read the entire Internet.
I hope this was clear enough, because it's the best I can manage.

You mistake "techs" for "Great Buildings". Yes it's possible to get a great building of high age in iron/EMA, I've got me a CDM (LMA) built in Iron Age by trading a heckuva lot of goods back and forth, and acquiring blueprints by aiding and investing in others' CDMs. It took a good deal of a month to achieve it, also I've got me 500 FPs to pay for goods once I'd collect enough BPs for an Arc. THEN I will be like those you describe, rich and powerful XDDDDDD "Techs" can be determined by the appearance of the person's Town Hall, it always depicts the effective age.

You can do the same, it takes time and devotion, but it's doable.
I just checked my top neighbour (I'm in HMA) - guy has 700k points while most of the players has 60-20k (I'm with 40k). He has lvl 9 Zeus and CoA, CdM, Ark and DT, sadly he don't have Traz but Rogue hideout is present. And he also in HMA :-)

I'm in HMA on one server (Fel). The top player has 2,382,962 pts, the bottom player has 8167 pts. It's a good demonstration of how wide the distribution can be, and why you'll be severely punished, if you move up too fast.

I'm at 4th, with 440,832 pts (an Arc increases my points score dramatically, but doesn't give me any more firepower), and plan to advance to LMA immediately after the next reshuffle. That will give me two weeks in a nice, quiet, HMA neighborhood, where I will get my LMA-ducks in a row, before getting into an LMA neighborhood. I'm expecting to land in the top 10-15, once I get to LMA, and be in the top 5 before I leave it. I would've advanced a few weeks ago, with somewhat lower ambitions, but circumstances don't always agree with my plans...

Some would consider me overly cautious, but I'm not wasting any time; there's plenty of progress to be had, without advancing in eras. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing well, I say.

Too bad I got that idea only around PME (was a n00b before :))
I just advanced in AF (was in AF since the beginning of August) and tbh I would stay in FE a couple weeks longer but winter quest rewards (not the set items) can give a kick-start for a looong winter in AFE :)

Probably not as long as you.

When you say read, do you mean comprehensive reading, or do you just read what you want to read?

When do you think you will have read the entire Internet and when you do, will it also include all the porn?
