Dear Players,
We have frequently received feedback from players who are dissatisfied with how neighborhood merging works. One of the primary issues raised is being in neighborhoods with players who are quite far ahead or behind in the age progression. Good news - we've got some changes and you will see them from Monday!
Over the last few weeks, we have been testing a new neighborhood merging system. We are now quite confident that the new system is good enough to start enabling it on our live servers.
The new system is simplified, compared to the old one. Unlike the old system, the new system will not cluster accounts into "chunks" that are afterwards merged together. The only criteria that will now be taken into account is era and the amount of Forge Points spent in the techtree.
This means, that normally, right after the merging occurs, there should be no differences in age within a single neighborhood (with an exception of very new game worlds as well as 14 neighborhoods per world where two different eras will meet).
We hope that this new system will eliminate the problem of players ending up in unbalanced neighborhoods.
As a closing remark we need to mention, that especially the very first merging will most likely put everyone into neighborhoods without any known faces. Therefore, if your neighborhood is very stable and you have some people that are important to you in it, please make sure that you add them to your friends list before the merging (latest on Sunday evening).
We of course will be happy to know your opinion about this new system, so please don't forget to share it in the feedback thread!
Yours,
Forge of Empires Team
