We have two words for it, one is the phonetical version of football, the other the almost phonetical version of soccer. Most of us prefer the latter, which is why I keep saying soccer in English as well. Actually, we have three words for it, the third one makes sense in our language, it's not just a foreign word written phonetically.

Have you heard about which coach serbian representation had for World Cup?
We had Krstajic, guy who didn't had day of career before World Cup and, the coach that led us to World Cup, Muslin, was suspended.
Guess why? Because politics meddled into sport. That is why serbian football today is awful. Because it is all just about politics.
Just which idiotic country would let a guy with 0 days of service to lead their representation on World Cup? Serbia.

Guess why? Because politics meddled into sport.

Guess why they did that? Because sports replaced war in country relations. So winning stuff in sports becomes as good as winning a war, and in war any means is good. So they started doing dirty tricks, starting 1936, spurring rounds of doping wars in oly pics. Now they start reaching elsewhere (well, they started that a lot earlier), nothing too serious.
