Easter discussion thread

DeletedUser12086

This thread is the discussion topic for the following announcement:

Dear Kings and Queens,

There is egg-citement among your city's population. From Wednesday, March 20th, a visitor in town has brought items - including several special, unique items - to exchange for Easter eggs you can find in your city, or earn through a series of Easter quests.

Bunnies - prompted by visitors to your realm - will be dashing to and fro hiding small, oval objects behind statues, bushes and other city decorations for you to find. You can hide eggs in other cities too, to help your friends and neighbors gather enough eggs to trade for items.

When the event becomes active you will see a new quest icon appear on the left side of your screen, the beginning of a new line of quests for you to complete. The event will run until April 3rd. After it ends, the trader will remain available for a further week and leave on April 10th, giving you an opportunity to trade any remaining eggs.

During the event, a new resource will be added to the game... Easter eggs! There are two ways to gather eggs: you can collect eggs other players have placed in your city, or you can complete the Easter quests to earn eggs as rewards. An egg counter is displayed in the top left corner of the game window. These eggs can be traded for items (click the counter to open the egg trader).

Collecting Easter eggs from your city

When you log into the game, you might see some gold egg icons hovering over your decorations. This is an indicator that there are Easter eggs hidden behind the decoration, placed there by another player. To collect the egg, click the decoration, and your egg counter will increase:

When you click, a colored egg animation appears over the decoration, showing you what kind of egg you found. Each variety of egg has a different "egg value". So, for example, if you find the pale blue egg, this is worth 5 eggs which will be added to your egg counter:

50 eggs

Hiding eggs in other players' cities

Hiding eggs in other cities requires bunny actions. Just like with Forge Points, you have a bunny action counter, which increments by 1 each hour, but there is a limit of 6 bunny actions in the action bar. If you have actions available, you'll be given an option when visiting other cities to hide an egg, alongside the options to polish or motivate a player's buildings:

To hide an egg, it must be placed in a decoration. Gold eggs will indicate where it's possible to hide an egg for the other player to find! Placing one egg will cost you 1 bunny action.

If you run out of bunny actions, you can either wait for your actions to increase again, or you can click the "+" icon in the bunny action bar to purchase additional actions with Diamonds.

Trading your Easter eggs

You can trade your Easter eggs with the trader who will remain in your city for 1 week after the event has ended. On April 10th the trader will leave and you'll lose any remaining eggs, so be sure to spend them before April 10th!

At the trader, you'll find a selection of items available, including Forge Point packages, unique avatars, and we also have several unique new buildings... and a new unit with a unique special ability! The buildings and special unit will scale according to the Age of your city, and so they will never expire!

We hope you enjoy the event and the unique new rewards, and we wish you a very happy Easter.

Sincerely,
The Forge of Empires team

One question I have - does the size of the egg package hidden in my city depend on the age of the decoration? Ie is it better to have later age decorations or can I just put up a load of obelisks?

No. However, it might be worthwhile to put up decorations of various ages, as hiding eggs does yield the chance of a BP drop, making decorations of later ages more attractive to players that care for this.

Ser Anwar,

His Great Benevolence, Lord Vortican I, was going to pose the question of what is the motivation for hiding these eggs in the cities of his fellow nobles, and if there is any reward for doing so. Are you confirming that the act of hiding said eggs increaseth the likelihood of His Lordship's researchers discovering an additional blueprint? Is there any other reason one might wish to hide eggs in a noble's lands (beside the devilish fun of it all, of course)?

Another excellent development! Gracious Lord Vortican issues formal commendations.

You never mentioned, in your Easter Event thread, that Blueprints for Great Buildings can be received when hiding Easter Eggs, just as they can be received when motivating or polishing. For example, an Easter Egg placed on a Late Middle Age Decoration could yield a Blueprint for a Great Building from that Age.
A lot of players will not realise this and fill there empty squares with Obelisks and Trees from the Stone Age.
These Decorations are completely useless as there are no Great Buildings from the Stone Age, and therefore no chance of receiving Blueprints when hiding Easter Eggs on them.

To the Gracious Lord Vortican,

One hides eggs in another Lord's demesne that they might collect them and gain rewards from this investment. In return, one then hopes that said Lord respects one enough to return to your great abode and secrete an egg in your town such that you, in turn, will get the rewards. Building up mutual relationships with one's fellow Lords will pay dividends in this way. With the eggs collected, one can trade them in for rewards such as unique buildings, portraits and other such items.

Additionally one has the chance to obtain blueprints (at about the same probability as if one polished or motivated) so there can be an immediate reward.

Wishing you well and hoping that there are no rogue lords in your neighbourhood or guild that would not return such eggs as you deposited. If not then light the watchfires and call your army down on them.

you not only get a chance at finding a blueprint when you hide eggs in Bronze Age and up decorum, but you also get the 20 coins.

I second the thank you for the special occasion quests and events! Very creative and fun!

Questions:
1. will easter eggs hidden in decorations "spoil" if not collected say within 24 hours? (I'll be away for a few days :( )
2. Can decorations only be used for hiding eggs once per 24 hours, like polishing/supporting?
TIA

Ser Martynius,

His Most Respected and Respectful Lordship wishes to extend his thanks for your clarification. He further notes that His Mighty Majesty extends his royal hands in friendship to all nobles in the hopes that cooperation and mutual decency would benefit all. His Most High Worshipfulness also bids good tidings to all those of fine lineage leaving messages upon this public board and invites them to visit his fair city and dine at his table. Ah, but if there were scamps or vagabonds who dared to abuse Lord Vortican's boundless charity and graciousness, he certainly would order his generals to make war upon them with such ferocity than even their pigs, horses, and dogs would tremble in fear at their approach (or at least, he might shake his mighty finger at them very swiftly whilst chiding them, "Tut tut! You filthy mongrel, you!" Instead, methinks His Greatness will err on the side of positive notions of goodwill and choose to believe that his many fellow nobles will respond in kind as the Handsome Devil Himself, Lord Vortican I, has his servants hide these eggs in their keeps.

No, eggs don't spoil.

2. Can decorations only be used for hiding eggs once per 24 hours, like polishing/supporting?

No. As soon as you collect the egg, the decoration is ready for a new egg. Note, however, that the hiding player's 24-hour cooldown is still in effect, so he can't hide another egg immediately (but another player can).

Anwar
