New app notifications

I'm not quite sure what has changed, but the game is now issuing stacks of notifications which are filling up the display on my device - previously you only seemed to be able to view the latest notification, which got overlaid by the next new one. This was sometimes awkward, but I preferred that to this new set-up where reams of them appear in perpetuity until you manually clear each and every one (even double-tapping on one to launch the app doesn't clear them).
A trifle of over-enthusiasm?
