You can only start an account using Facebook, you can't link an existing account.

contact suport they might be able to exchange the email for facebook i imagine they can cause you can change the email that is linked to your account

Yeah if you want to link to facebook I'd say contact support for an answer. Just a warning though, it will restrict access to your account features. Any account that has ever been linked to facebook at any point in time gets bugs that non-facebook accounts will never have when trying to access and change their settings
