Each year we have re occurring questlines (eg) cider mill, tree of love, confectionery, etc etc. Each year these building get bigger and bigger. Players do not want bigger buildings.
Why not keep the building the same size or better still reduce it in size and each year add on a small increment to what it can do. This will motivate the players as now a nth year building will be really worth it.
For instance I'm not going to upgrade my cider mill as it will turn a 3x2 into a 5x4 for what ... an over sized wishing well. If though the size remained the same and you added some gold one year, maybe next year an fp or whatever the next, etc etc now that quest and that unique building over time become really good.
Similarly the set items take up a daft amount of space for the rewards they give .... and .. they can be plundered. I don't understand why anyone would build them.
