What should I be researching?

I've just finished slingers, and I'm curious as to what I should pick? Those 1 hour gold houses are expensive and I don't have enough build resources to do much of anything. I'm also finding myself being demolished by hymir region stone slingers and throwers.

take the fastest research route to archers, then go back and fill in the rest.

But, I can't. I'm barely making enough resources as is.

Resource wise what should i focus on?

if you need more supply-producing buildings, look in the tech tree for the research areas with little hammers on them and research those. often you'll also have to complete "prerequisites" but there's no way around that. long periods of waiting to amass necessary resources are part of this game, so you just learn to enjoy them.
