Unable to open technology of researched item

I have completed making the required items needed to open the researched technology, but am unable to open it and use these items.

Posting a screenshot would help greatly in seeing what is the problem. You cannot open the research window or you cannot build what you've just unlocked?

Sorry, my print screen key is not working, but I researched a technology that required lumber. I did not have the required lumber at the time so I selected the unlock later option. Now I have the 2 lumber in my townhall and I went back to the research area and it will not allow me to unlock it.

Do you have the coins / supplies needed as well? If it asks for them. When you click on the $ symbol to unlock your tech you can see what you are missing: it is displayed in a red color.
