Two lanes roads

I've looked in the wiki and didn't find any useful info on 2 lane roads. Can any body tell me how to get them?

Same way you get all roads - by researching the related technology. Traffic Lanes, the first technology of the Progressive Era, unlocks Tarmac Road, the first two-lane road of the game.
