Haha, I can't stop laughing.

My friend started FoE and got to the point where he could check his rank. Jeez, the game said he's in Greifental, but I can't see him in my list. Nor can he see me

I am defenitely in Greifental. FoE guys? I wanna be with my buddy. Can you fix it or at least explain it??

this often seems to happen, people get confused as to which set of servers they actually logged into, all the worlds are the same but different names and repeated across multiple server groups

Your friend is definitely in the US server. You can tell by looking at the start of the URL.
