Proposal:

give a +/- bonus to the tiles surrounding any given troop

Have you checked the forums for the same or similar idea

I did, however not sure if this applies to the spirit of the message
"Do not add more PVP & NPC combat scenarios". If it does please
ignore and close.

Reason:

To allow more involvement with troops during combat mode, raising
the level of realism to the battle field. Perhaps improving on AI controlled
troops.

Details:

Each title surrounding a troop ( save for the tile positioned directly in front of
an opponent, this would remain neutral as there is no advantage to either troop),
would have a + or - affect for both offensive and defense positions. Those tiles
on the front angle and immediate back angle would allow for a slight bonus for
attackers, or slight disadvantage for the defender.

These effects would be in combination with any environmental bonuses already
in play on the field.

The tile directly behind the troop would be given a more substantial advantage to
the attacker, or again a larger reduction to the target defender.

In real life combat there is always an advantage to flanking, and attacking from
behind an opponent (not very honorable, but very effective none the less)

This would certainly help with the middle age Mounted Archers weaker attack.

Visual Aids:

Currently do not have access to a proper program to add visuals.

Balance/Abuse Prevention:

Since all players would have the same access to such an improvement there is
no inherent balance or abuse that isn't there for all (actually those inclined to
meticulous planning and environment surveying may have a tactical edge :O)
