I am currently in Progressive and have progressed to Contemporary on the Campaign map:
With adequate supplies, goods and fp's would there be any reason why I could not drive straight through Modern into Post.
The answer to this will detemine whether I need to prepare my city for Modern or Post Modern buildings and work on my new city design accordingly.

i'd go direct to PME i did not like modern era +PM troops are way beter then modern troops

The only problem with ME is that goods are now refined, but as long as you have enough GBs or CA goods you should be fine.
