archer fire range too small

it is very annoying that short range units attack range is just the same as light melee unit move range.
that completely messes their "ranged" idea and makes slingers/archers just the low armor variation of spear/soldier units.
either their attack range must get bigger or melee units move range must get smaller

... this isn't a bug

if you're getting owned when you use archers... you're doing it wrong. You're supposed to use something called terrain...

i think the idea that the devs had was for you to try to kill the melee units before they can get to you...for example, wait til they move close enough to where you can set up your archers (behind water or multiple obstacles) to pick them off before their next turn.

this is not a bug.

I move my armored soldiers in front of my archers but at just the range that if incoming soldiers try to push through my guys they have to go through the soldiers first and not go around them. Basically bait them in with stronger troops. This gives you 2 shots with your archers which should be enough to bring them down. If not time to upgrade troops.

Well... where to begin...
1. Definitely not a bug... may be considered an idea...
2. As an idea... I have to say you need to rethink your military tactics if this is the case with your battles, almost everyone I know of thinks archers and the like are the ultimate unit in the game... they really do rock!!! But I will be open minded, and move this to ideas for others to provide their opinion...
