Orange flashing light show in GE

Okay, I know it's supposed to be helpful, and someone put a lot of time into it, and it's well implemented and works, but have you guys any idea how annoying it is to have the whole GE map flash like a disco with orange flashing lights every time you try to move units? FFS can we please go back to what it was?

How do you know all of the above if this is a bug and not an intended feature
I don't recall any announcement but maybe I missed it
