Event Winter Event 2014

DeletedUser99445

Come on FOE, show some kindness to Alwinal and make sure he is happy and forget about the rest of the players.
Look after the special one at Christmas.

DeletedUser15432

Alwinal, everyone has to adjust to the same set of events in the year, yet it seems you are the only person who wants to upset the applecart and get the winter event removed from the calendar or postponed, if I remember correctly, you raised the same concerns last year and were basically told the same answers. If you feel that strongly about it, you always have the option of not playing.

The special events are optional extras to the main game and therefore not part of the main game, many players who only occasionally or never purchase diamonds look forward to these special events as a way of getting the premium buildings that they would otherwise never get hold of.

Your constant complaints could result in the Inno management team ceasing to run these events and this would be bad for a lot of the players, this is the fourth of fifth time in this thread in the last couple of days that you have raised the same complaint

Please cease and desist in the constant complaining

This is a Christian event. Why do you think we earn stars and not snowflakes? Because it refers to the birth of Jesus at Christmas day.

This is the only yearly event that it does matter if you are on or not. Please, no game changing items like rogue hideouts, champion retreats, and upgrade kits with Christmas. Otherwise you have to wait until Easter for a next chance. Means 4 months a disadvantage for not allowed/ willing to be online while this is a Christmas event.

Does Easter not celebrate the crucifixion / subsequent arising of Jesus 3 days later.?

the traditional rolling of eggs was to symbolise the rolling away of the stone that covered the tomb where Jesus lay. Easter eggs are simply commercialism cashing in on a tradition (much like Christmas presents to represent the gifts from the three wise men). My point in this is that Easter is in fact a religious festival.

I'm sure Christianity celebrates Easter as much as Christmas so surely you will miss part of that event also. In fact the Easter Event rewards activity (the egg counter is only 6) more than any other event so really with your post above you are totally contradicting yourself

I don't understand in that case, why give bonusses for Christmas, but punish the ones who created it: Christians?
Because the vast majority of practicing Christians world wide have no such rules against spending five minutes on the internet on this day, and your request isn't to support a religion but an extremely small subset of it? Your "logic" that because it's presents we earn not snow flakes makes it a Christmas event not a winter event (despite everything saying 'winter event') is faulty, many people give gifts for the winter solace, for Kwanza, for Hanukkah, for other events I don't know about that happen at this time of year. Assuming that "presents" in December must and always will and can never not equal "Christmas" is extremely small minded. And before you cite the tree decoration thing as more proof, look up where that tradition originated from because it sure as heck wasn't in the Christian holiday.

Game rewards participation, either deal with that or leave.

edit - alwinal said "stars" not "presents". I wasn't aware that stars were a Christian thing. As far as I knew the whole world can look up at the night sky and see them. So assuming that stars can only be a Christian thing is everything I already said. A lot of religions (probably all in some way) have stars as significant either as their gods or the home of their gods or as constellations that mark their famous heroes or something else I don't know about.

This has probably become a case of "don't feed the troll"....

'Hey matz316,

Sorry to hear that, but there is no quest for the 25th.
Today is a day meant for spending time with family/friends/loved ones, not questing.
The objective tracker merely states there is 1 more quest coming, it doesn't specify when.
Just know you have until the 6th of January to finish these quests, so it has to be before that.

This was posted by Lodroth (Post #213 - Thread: Winter Event on Forge of Empires: discussion) on 25 December 2012 in response to a query regarding lack of a December 25th quest for the original Winter Event.

I see nothing religious whatsoever in this decision, just a little something for all of us to ponder upon.

Who knows what will happen now?

Its become a case of "Don't let alwinal post in the forum until the Winter event ends"

at the end of the day a game should always fit around the players RL situation rather than adapting RL to suit a game. with that in mind if the game does not suit a players RL for what ever reasons then RL comes first and the game gets put aside or their game playing style gets adapted to fit.

if the summer event is during a players 2 week summer holiday when they are away with no internet is a quick example that springs to mind............... the player can accept RL has determined the game will be forgotten for 2 weeks, the player can cancel their holiday to play the game instead or the player can have a different holiday where internet access is available. whichever the player chooses is upto them, but INNO is not putting that player at a disadvantage because it has held the event during that players 2 weeks holiday

I have gotten the "X2 prize" then the "show 2 prizes" right after. It only showed 2 prizes. Should it not have been 4 prizes shown?
It's happened 3 times now.

DeletedUser7719

It unfortunately does not show 4, and it has been an intended behavior since the last event as well.

DeletedUser5180

it does seem unfair as that is the x2 present wasted, thats something that should maybe looked into before next years event. Perhaps if the presents open in this order then the x2 could be carried over to the next present (in effect giving x2 of one of the 2 presents that have been revealed by the show 2 present)

Amy Steele

General
Although it does not show 4, when you pick show 2 you also get 3 stars. If the show 2 is doubled it's the 3 stars that are doubled, so you get 6 stars

I really feel sorry for you mate. especially if you are a child.

although i have been debating with alwinal in the last few posts on this thread (as you will have read) i must stick up for him / her as i really can't see what your post is referring to, i don't understand why you would 'feel sorry' for alwinal unless you are being sarcastic and if so then whats the reference to a child all about.?

On the 20th Quest (Recruiting Units), Rogues are not being counted in the tally. Don't Rogues belong to all ages?

DeletedUser6065

Mouse hover over the Rogues' Hideout. Clearly says 'All Ages'.

There is a difference, you can use eggs later to pick your prize, ok you miss 2 days eggs, but there are enough days left to gain. Winter event is the only event where you really have to be online at a specific day. And still even if you don''t go somewhere, it is still a family event. Many will think, christmas and presents, so biggest items then. However: give away things that supply the best armies, does not fit in such a peaceful event. Nothing against buildings that give a lot of happiness/supplies/coins, but please no game changers.

DeletedUser99445

that is a little lie
in fact rogues have no age

if you attack with a bronze age unit and 7 rogues
does that fight count in your age or in the bronze age ?
and if you use 8 rogues it doesn't count in any tower

so how could the rogues when collecting counts to your age when they don't count for your age when using them when fighting
or do you want that all fights with at least 1 rogue automatically counts in the tower of your age

I see Michael's point and its a pretty valid one.
Rogues do have "Age" They clearly state they are "All Ages" as opposed to "No Age"
@Test ament......this isn't about fighting. Its about collecting troops. With Rogues BEING All Ages, they should count towards the quest when collected.

DeletedUser11899

My point of view about this 'rogue debate' is pretty simple:

All properties of any unit are shown in the tooltip when you hover over that unit.
And, in the case of rogues, their age property is "No age".

The point is that the rogue hideout tooltip maybe is a bit confusing, it would be clearer if it were "No age" instead of "All ages" however these kind of quests does never mention 'barracks', just 'units'.

So, as a "No age" unit, the rogue is not a "current age" unit

But I also understand all those who only have rogues hideouts so they must have room to build other military barracks to complete this kind of quests

DeletedUser99445

it is about the unit
and it should behave in all aspect the same

but you should collect from "your age" (or one below) not from "all ages"
because in the "all ages"-case the troops would count

you can't expect that rogues counts in quest as units of your age and in fights not

simple: "all ages" is NOT "your age" :p

or would it be correct for you if
in fights: all ages = no age (the fight isn't counted to any tower when attacking with 8 rogues)
in quests: all ages = your age

I;m sure in your head this all looks good or you wouldn't bother typing it but it is totally irrelevant as far as I am concerned.
The whole point is that the Rogues are ALL Ages and Not NO Age.
As they are all ages it can be argued that they would count to your current age as well as any other which is the same when you fight depending on which age unit you use to fight with, the rogues then follow suit.
Try to concentrate on the Quest and Rogues being any age as opposed to PVP and fighting. It might clear the fog for you.
