The ambiguity that 1 billion is not the same in all countries.
Short scale: 1 billion = 1 thousand million
Long scale: 1 billion = 1 million million
Short scale: 1 trillion = 1 thousand billion
Long scale: 1 trillion = 1 million billion
etc...

In my world, for instance.
We call 1.000 million a milliard - and 1 million million is a billion. Like it used to be in UK too.
