What flies over my Arctic Era City?

Normally i play with the animations switched off to improve playability, but tonight i switched it back on to study some of the fine details the graphic artists put into their work which is pretty amazing.

To my surprise, those large flapping birds have been replaced by something else - but i have no idea what they are. The deer and rabbits remain unchanged so all traditional wildlife does not seem to have been killed off by a radical change of climate brought about by the Arctic Future. In fact, birds would be better placed to survive than land mammals as they would have the ability to migrate to warmer climes if necessary.

This is what i was expecting to see:

but this is what now flies over and around my city:

Please can anyone tell me what they are?
