Last time I worked it out - at HMA - the space needed for 1 goods per day using the best standard buildings was 1.45623788 squares. To get an accurate comparison between a building (special or great) that gives you the goods and a production building that charges you for them, you need to add in the cost of supply, either the housing for the production building or the cost of the coins (housing is more the issue - it provides the coins), and the space to provide happiness for the people working the production building and getting the coins & supplies. So, in HMA, 60 goods using standard buildings (impossible to generalise using GBs) would need 87.37427279 squares.I've also been reconsidering the DT (eventhough I have the goods and bps).
At 6x5 it's about 3 times the size of a regular goods plant ... but you'll need level 30 to produce an equivalent 60 goods/d.
That said, an LMA player receiving 1 OF good is effectively getting a truckload of goods when traded downto LMA goods.
You could effectively use it to trade goods long before you actually arrive in OF.
One caveat is that you need OF friends or guildmates to really make it work ... but it will pay for itself many times over if you get it early enough in the game .
You're certainly well positioned to take full advantage of this magnificent edifice .
On top of that, the DT can provide all of a city's supply needs. Not that that is very important, since Inno seem determined to to force us to have lots of production buildings anyway!
