Opening a chest will then let you 'sail' along to the next chest which takes 15 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours (twice) or 8 hours before it can be opened depending on how far you have already advanced.

Once you arrive at a chest you then have a set amount of time to open it and continue along the hunt or the counter resets and you go back to the start. Even if you are too late to continue along the hunt you will still get to open the chest and collect the reward inside.

The further you advance then the better the rewards within the chests, so being active is the key to success.

A good guide but a key to what your headings mean would be useful - that is BA IA EMA etc?

Thanks for the guide akkers.
can you mention that
1) it is still not available on the app so you can't collect your rewards and move on to the next stage if you are out and about
and
2) the green tick only shows for a limited amount of time. if there is no green tick it either means the ship is still travelling, or you are too late and will have to restart. this is the most annoying feature for me.

They are the eras in the game:
BA - Bronze Age
IA - Iron Age
EMA - Early Middle Age
