I have run out of space for buildings. what is the solution for this problem? The empty slots as you see them are unavailable for buildings. Thanks in advance!

Your options for expanding the building area are in the expansion tab (I've attached the image highlighting below) Although you appear to have previously found that section already, you win some expansions from researching various technologies, winning certain sectors on the campaign map, by collecting enough medals to pay for them and also by purchasing with diamonds.

You can often gain some space by organising buildings a little better, I know at the start it can be a bit of a pain when you start getting introduced to various sized buildings and ones that don't require roads but the more you can put 2x2 and 3x3 etc together on roads, you get a little more efficiently.

Welcome to FOE... :)

Expansions can be gained by leveling up your tech tree. You can also collect medals by placing FP on your friends' or neighbors' GBs, especially the ARC.
then exchange medals for expansions. You can get a couple of expansions using diamonds, but it's best to join a guild (research Smithery in the tech tree), where most members will help you along your way. Good luck and enjoy.

I'd suggest moving any same-size buildings into straight lines starting from the town hall and reducing the amount of roads you need, that would free up space.
Also, decorations don't need a road attached so they can be moved into any gaps.

Whether or not friends or neighbours have an Arc is debatable, but you do not get more medals when donating to an Arc. You get more when you have an Arcl, but for a player in his stage of the game that should not be a priority.

FOE what great building returns the most medals / FP contribution

In Forge of Empires (FOE), the Great Building (GB) that returns the most medals for Forge Point (FP) contributions is The Arc.

but for a player in his stage of the game that should not be a priority.

Exactly so not very helpful, except for trying to prove me wrong, I guess.

I think that means if you have the Arc and contribute. It's not accurate as the Arc giving the most for positions. Either it's outdated or wrong. It's mainly the newer gbs but Arc is not top for medal returns as a player without Arc. It wasn't the worst advice ever on gaining medals though.

Actually it is very helpful and it proves you wrong. That is win/win.

All GB's in era's after the Arc will reward you with more medals. That starts with GB's from Arctic Future from level 9 and on and from ages after that even at lower levels.

No need to thank me. It's always a joy to educate you.

It's absolutely correct that I said "especially the Arc" is a great Gb for new players to invest FP's in.
Starting with The Arc can set a strong foundation for your city's growth
When you contribute Forge Points (FP) to The Arc, you can expect the following rewards:
  1. Medals: A significant number of medals,
  2. Forge Points (FP): Additional FP for your contributions. when you own a lvl80+ Arc even more than you need to contribute.
  3. Blueprints: A chance to receive blueprints, which can be used to craft special items.
  4. Guild Goods: Each day, The Arc produces goods from your current era, which are donated to your guild's treasury and also earn you ranking points.
  5. Contribution Boost: An increase in rewards when contributing to other players' Great Buildings.
The Arc is a powerhouse. Not only does it reward you with a significant number of Forge Points and medals, but it also gives a bonus to the rewards you get when contributing to other players' Great Buildings. You have not mentioned all the other great benefits the Arc gives a new player.
It's like a gift that keeps on giving!

Thank you for your education, but you forgot this thread is about helping a new player,

That new player was asking how he could get more space for buildings. One of the answers was with medals. Then you came up with this gem

You can also collect medals by placing FP on your friends' or neighbors' GBs, especially the ARC.

Did you even bother to look at his city? He is in bronze! His neighbours are in the same age as he is, so good luck finding an Arc in one of their cities. Friends he is not likely to have a lot yet. Donating in an AArc just for medals??? If you want to go about it that way every GB in an age above the Arc is better, so especially the Arc is stupid advice. Last thing he needs right now is an Arc. It is way above his level.

Mybe Shad explained it wrong to you.

They don't actually have access to GB contributions yet or been introduced to them, That's IA tech, so it could cause confusion, So it's pretty much a mute discussion anyway.

He can have access next time he checks here. Should he then go on a wild goose chase for an Arc, or should he get aquainted with GB's first. He has no space, produces a limited amount of fp's and does not have the goods. Hey man, what you neeed is an Arc. Brilliant advice!

I think once they get 2/3 posts into this thread they'll stop reading tbh.

Others might, but the OP is looking for answers so he might read on. Last thing you want him to do is follow up the bad advice Xenon is giving. You get more than enough expansions from your tech tree in the first ages. Trying to get them from other GB's let alone an Arc is just plain stupid. Placing a Colosseum would even be a better option and nobody would ever advice that.

You earned over 100 fp in bronze on your first day?

He had an Arc.
