That's not weird at all.
If the player you remove from your active roster was going to get murdered by 2-3 opposing players due to the Weapon Triangle, then you've actually *gasp* made your team stronger by removing the weakest link.
ie: opposing team is say, Attacker - Midfielder - Midfielder - Midfielder - Defender
and your initial 'randumb' team set-up is say, Attacker - Attacker - Midfielder - Midfielder - Defender
...now remove the Defender and your % should go up since he's weak vs. 3 opposing players, whereas the Attackers are only facing a single opposing Defender. (and thus, take a much smaller overall hit)
Yes player levels factor into it, but the biggest influence is going to be from the Weapon Triangle match-ups.
