Server Load vs New Ideas

Denver Pyle

Master Corporal
There are a lot of good ideas floating about and an excuse often thrown about is server load.

If server load was such a huge issue, why are achievements a part of this game. What function do they really serve other than to boost ego's. Every time you hover over someone's avatar the server needs to look up what achievements they currently have selected. Couldn't this waste of server time be put to better use?

That's why I always propose when I get the "lag argument", that we should use a text based stripped down interface then, since everything increases the lag, especially graphics :)

The idea of achievements was just wasteful. Everyone will eventually get all the achievements....they're not really achievements, it's just a gimmick to make shallow people feel as if they've accomplished something...all you accomplish by an achievement is showing you play the game. Huzzah for you. When they make an achievement for completing 64/64 encounters without a failure, or defeat every neighbor in a single day...that sort of thing...those are achievements, you accomplished something other than merely playing the game.

'The idea of achievements was just wasteful. Everyone will eventually get all the achievements....'.
Wasteful - yes.
Everyone/all achievements - not necessarily. Some don't fight. Some don't pol/mot.
But still wasteful and meaningless.
