Can anyone tell me how to delete units from the defending military on the PvP Arena menu?

When I go to the Pvp menue the delete button does not work.

I am trying to upgrade my military and it won't let me sell one because I have one of the units as a defending unit in the PvP Arena.

1/ click Tower
2/ click Defending Army ( right side )
3/ click trojen helmet, above 8/8 ( Left side)
4/ Cursor changes to helmet, now click on redundent troop
5/ pick attached/unattached and era
6/ pick troop type
7/ click on troop/s until all 8 positions taken
8/ click OK
All done
