Problem updating on Amazon Kindle Fire

I have been playing FoE for years on my Kindle, but since yesterday I get the message "Your version of the game is outdated and is not supported any longer. Please go to the the Amazon Appstore and update the current version."
Now, I would love to do that, but every time I try (by clicking the ok button, or by manually going to the Amazon Appstore), the FoE game download page just says that the game has already been downloaded and installed. Instead of a button "download" I just get a button "open".
Is this a FoE problem, an Amazon Appstore problem, or is it not the game that is outdated, but my Kindle ?
Any constructive reply is more than welcome...
