So, with the new GbG championship, the fragments for the Wyverntide Smithy Level 1 are now apparently going to become useless, so if you did not get enough fragments for a Smithy, just too damned bad. The continuation of Inno punishing players now by offering decent awards and taking away the possibility of completing said rewards.
So, if you could not get a Smithy before, do not expect to get a Siegeshop now.

**as the Wyverntide Smithy Fragments will be exchanged for the Thunderdrake Siegeshop Fragments.**

But you dare not clear out those “useless” fragments just in case some time in the future there is a chance to use them. My inventory is overflowing. Tell us now please, useless, or wait a year, or whatever.

Obviously, there are no explanations to be found here. I saw a discussion on the discord server that hinted that Inno wouldn't be doing what they said they would be doing.

Is Inno exchanging fragments or not?

Not yet - and for something like this, probably not - but it is Inno, and not as if you can trust anything that they are saying anymore (especially since they really prefer to say nothing, and let the players do the saying - since then many other players will just see what the players are saying, and decide it was Inno who said it)

The sentence implies they will but in the context of the full paragraph it doesn't even imply they will, just that the rewards have changed.

It's just very badly worded and easy to interpret the way a lot of players have.

In addition to the "exchange", it appears the number of fragments has changed. In my guild, we were looking forward to it as it appeared to present a possible path to getting a tower/citadel. We had 4500 Wyverntide and getting a 1st place finish in this championship would guarantee a tower/citadel.
4500 + 3000 =7500

For some unknown reason, 500 fragments have been made to disappear. 4000 + 3000 = 7000 which means we're screwed.

Might help if you looked at the correct buildings in the first place. Since there are no Wyverntide Fragments being made available anymore - currently, only Thunderdrake Citadel fragements are available. So you are doubly self-screwed if you were thinking this championship was going to add to your Wyverntide.

Our guild discussion took place on June 3rd, the same day the Thunderdrake Championship was announced. At that point, we had 4500 Wyverntide fragments and zero Thunderdrake fragments.

As Inno appeared to be saying that our Wyverntide would be exchanged for Thunderdrake (at some point), the 4500 exchanged-Wyverntide could be combined with Thunderdrake fragments won during the Thunderdrake championship. 3000 Thunderdrake fragments would get us to the 7500 needed.

I have no idea why you imagine I was looking at the wrong building.

You cannot combine the fragments from Wyverntide and Thunderdrake.

No one said the fragments in your inventories would be exchanged. Look at the actual announcement here: https://support.innogames.com/kb/ForgeOfEmpires/en_DK/3800

The two "exchanges" promised are as follows:
With the new Championship starting, we have also adjusted the season rewards for the first 3 places in Diamond League, as the Wyverntide Spire of Victory Selection Kit Fragments will be exchanged for the Thunderdrake Citadel Selection Kit Fragments.
With the new Championship starting, we have also adjusted the conquest rewards for the Diamond League, as the Wyverntide Smithy Fragments will be exchanged for the Thunderdrake Siegeshop Fragments.
In other words, the rewards for finishing first, second, or third, would be changed from Wyverntide Spire of Victory Selection Kit Fragments to Thunderdrake Citadel Selection Kit Fragments, and the rewards you get for successfuly fighting ort negotiating on the GbG map would be changed from Wyverntide Smithy Fragments to Thunderdrake Siegeshop Fragments. That's what was promised and that's what was done.

No one promised you anything about fragments earned previously. Those remain unchanged.

Yes. Just bad and misinterpretable choice of words from Inno.
Instead of "exchanged for" they could have used "changed from ... to".

They really need someone with grammar skills to read through their announcements before making them public. This is certainly not the first time the wording of sentences in their messages has been misunderstood.

You should give Inno a very good English lesson today.
