I have been unable to get back into my existing game (which I have spent $$$ buying forge packs etc) When I log in now I have to start all over again from scratch - any help????

You are trying to log into a different server. Select the correct server, the English or International server. You can select the different servers in the top of the log in window.

Can you please advise which is the international server? The english server still has me starting a new game ;(

The English IS the International server.
The only two options I can come up with is:
#1 Your city is on another server. (Most likely)
#2 You have been away from the game for so long, that it has been deleted.(not likely)

I suggest you contact support, maybe they can help you.
