“Available Forge Points" being 78 means you have 78 points on the FP bar. 78 is greater than the remaining amount needed for researching this technology, which is 57. Therefore the screenshot (or artwork) shows "Use 57 Points" instead of "Use 78 Points". If the "available forge points" (the amount of FPs currently on the bar, hereinafter "nn") were less than 57, the second button would show "Use nn Points".

Therefore, you have the flexibility to first open the inventory, open the suitable number of 5FP packages and 10FP packages as many as you like, to put them first to the FP bar as a buffer, and then spend them on research.
