Inequality in Guild Battlegrounds

I do have to question the mechanics of why one guild would be matched against another. We should all know that there is math, and then there is Math.
Guilds are matched on past gbg performances through the ranking system.

All new guilds start with 0 points

Your finishing position coupled with the number of opponents gives you a + or - to your ranking score and determines your league

Next round guilds with similar rank face each other.

This is why a guild of 1 can face a guild of 80 (and win)

Maybe we can all agree that nobody likes getting matched up against a Titan :D
Instead of Inequality (which exists in all forms of life) it probably should have been imbalance. The imbalance is a Game mechanic and can be adjusted in the programming. All players exist within the parameters of these mechanics ("What is the Matrix?"-Neo), and what and how they choose to operate is simply strategy.
I'm still a fairly new player of FoE, but I do have to question the mechanics of why one guild would be matched against another. We should all know that there is math, and then there is Math. You can have the basic random number generator that just picks 8 random Guilds and throws them together. But you can also balance that by adding more Math into the equation. There are so many other factors that could be added to Guild matches: player's age, how many medals they have, whether they play GbG or GE, how long they've been in the guild, how old the guild is, how many players have been active in the last week, and basically anything else you want to add in.
This complicates the programming and it's really up to the programmer's capability to figure out the math, but it's doable. But until then, I'd have to agree that there is a definite Imbalance in the game when it comes to the GbG & GE guild selections.

Imbalance? Have you tried PvA yet? You'll have Imbalance until your heart's content?

GbG. however, requires effort & tactical planning!

My One-Man-Guild -- progress
1st time into Plat ►only 1 season
--- long run in gold after
2nd into Plat ► 4 seasons - with the next 1 coming for 5 -- if I don't mess up - 1 more after that

All is about tactical planning for the long haul

The type of matchups your are asking for Would Create The Imbalance you want to eliminate.

You want 5-8 kindergarten kids(small guilds of low ranked members) with the ability to obtain The corporate payout (Diamond league goodies). I have seen a 5 member guild with members of 2mil ranks or less up in the high leagues. They must be paying a fortune to get there - that's their choice.

But, long term tactical planning is best. Also, a brute force guild of power hitters is not always the winning guild!

From the wiki "According to a guild's performance, they can climb the ladder to join the highest leagues. New guilds start off in the Copper league and can advance to Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond league. Upon introduction of the Guild Battlegrounds on a Server, all existing guilds will get assigned to a league depending on various parameters of the guild that reflect the guilds activity. "

I know it's a bit vague, those "various parameters", and my point was that the formula for Guild matching could be better balanced.

The type of matchups your are asking for Would Create The Imbalance you want to eliminate.

How so? If the parameters were balanced, you'd face guilds comparable with yours. So in your Guild of 1, you'd face other Guilds of 1, in the same age, with the players 10-15 level within the range of yours. THEN it's tactics and it's balanced. Not a Pro-Wrestler showing up to kindergarten class for a cage match.

So "Lt.Gen" I also have to challenge your seasonal progress. No "new" player to the game will be able to go Solo to Platinum in your timeframe. But I see you've been around since 2016, so yeah, in 4 years I can see that happening. I'm confident that in 4 years I can have all 10 of my cities supporting my 1 man guilds too. By that time I'll have all my critical GB's in their 80's and be able to leave the guild that helped me get there. Start a new guild, contribute a million or so goods from my age without a worry and seriously do some damage to those players who are just starting out. Can't wait!

And - Why should a brand new player of a one-man guild have the right to make it to platinum?

Your analogy is flaw from the start

Which is my point exactly, how many parameters have you just described, 3? (Finishing Position, Number of Opponents, Ranking Score). Again, math 1+1+1=3, and Math (a+b)/(c*d+(e*f*g)/1000)=3, I know, kinda simple, but in the second example, you've factored in a more accurate picture of all the guilds = 3. Hence, a better balance in the GbG.

Just say it - you deserve something that is unearned --- typical -- socialist attitudes like governments -- will Always fail --- not one has ever succeeded --- I need not make any other point

And another thing - I guarantee you - this organization - has no intension of just "Giving Away" platinum level prizes - to every new player, one man guild that comes along.

It Won't Happen

Except there is only one parameter now that determines if you go up or down in league. You are mixing up two things. The start and the current situation.

Wow, I guess if you keep posting vague and unhelpful posts, they'll have to promote you again, keep at it! You're doing great!

Why are you so caught up in rewards? In none of my posts have I addressed what a player should get, what they "deserve", or what was earned or not. Stay on POINT. This is about Imbalance.

My last post then back to my cities.

The reason I contributed to this post is that in the current GE my Guild was matched up against two others who were in the Top 6 in their world where mine is 119, so there wasn't even a contest for 1st & 2nd place. I felt sorry for one guild who was 778th in their world. And in the GbG? This was our pairing:
MembersLevelGoldSilverBronzeTop #1 PlayerTop #2 PlayerTop #3 Player
Guild #13254617448406M330M171M
Guild #2338934196M91M47M
Mine785136546645M42M36M

WHERE is there ANY balance in any of those columns? That's not even taking into consideration Guilds dropping down a league so they'll get matched with newer, easier to beat guilds. Again, the High School bullies showing up at the sandbox to beat up on the kids because, oh my, if they went to the college hangouts, they'd get their butt kicked. Can't have that, need to be the big fish in a small pond.

Just more math to balance the guilds.

best way to deal with the imbalance - get yourself in the upper half of the imbalance

hard work, determination and a good strategy regarding levelling up your attack boosts etc.. will get you there

Knight of ICE

The balance is in the fact that all 3 guilds performed in previous battlegrounds to achieve an (almost) equal number of league points, to be placed in the same division.

Whats gold, silver, bronze got to do with it? I'm guessing they are finishing positions from GE so absolutely nothing to do with battlegrounds.

By your reckoning guild #2 with only 3 members have no place fighting you with your 78 members, you should be kicking their butts

Major-General
Battlegrounds imbalance problem starts when a Guild competes for 1st time in Cooper, and continue till it gets gold-platinum.
The problem is , that when a guild (any guild) is getting +175 LP in Cooper, for being 1st among 8, when from the actual 8 the 6 didn't even compete, then it is absolutely normal to have problems later on.

this screen is from my current map, and creates a question, at least to me.
Why would anyone who played against himself and only, would receive the +175 LP which is the bonus for being #1 AMONG 8 ?
Who was the 8 i competed ?

This is the main factor that creates imbalance, and also pushes every guild upwards, making possible to have more Diamond Maps when the Rankings finally settle , than Cooper ones...

i told it again back on january or so, the MMR is problematic and is intented to make everyone a winner.
by mistake ? intented ? idk

and what happens when your guild is so strong that not even 4 big top 10 guilds working together can beat you guild? Because thats the case on Greinfetal, no one can take on LoW, not even 4 top guilds working together, so instead of working to get stronger and learning to work better together, they decide to protest GBG and decide not to play at all every time they face us, because what's the point? Your idea of using Guild points is flawed as well as the MMR system, because guild points (prestige) is mostly determined by GvG, so GvG active guilds will always be higher on rankings then non GvG guilds, as a matter of fact the top 2 competitors to LoW in G world aren't even in the top 10 because they have abandoned GvG, so prestige is not a measurement of strength of a guild, its just the summary of all guild power your guild generates daily, your idea means that those strong guilds will actually never face the strongest guild, as they could simply avoid playing vs the top guilds by avoiding to be in top 10, we need a GBG challenger league that is cross server where top guilds of all worlds can face each other off and have real competition

And the one up top - if it's not for the prizes - then your idea is even worse -- you want a gold, platinum, & diamond Star --- for what --- just to brag --- Wonderful --- that is kindergarten then

That's the same amount given in platinum -- my suggestion would be to close those gaps so that young guilds don't progress to quickly -- a range of +175 to -175 in copper league is far to great a swing.

The window should progress more smoothly and not be the same across all league levels

Just for the record -- It is extremely challenging to have a 5 season run in platinum league. Anyone that thinks this is a cake walk, has no idea of just how difficult it is. It takes a great deal of tactical planning to achieve.

And, you know why I do it -- you guessed it --- the prizes -- namely the Road to Victory fragments.

I could be in any of the top guilds if I wished -- indeed -- many want me in their guild --- It's easy to be in a league of 40 and be part of a group of Power House Hitters --- But --- I prefer a challenge.

When I'm told a One-Man-Guild can't make it to Diamond League, that's a challenge. I accept that challenge and strive to achieve it. It takes a great deal of forward planning to get there. I see guilds that are like a flash -- a shooting star -- I work toward it for the long haul!

My 1st time into platinum league, I was there for 1 season and hadn't been back for many - spent all in gold.
This is my second time into platinum league -- and have been here for 5 straight seasons now, counting the current.

I expect to drop back down to gold - hopefully not until after the next one -- but if I drop back down after this one so be it. I won't come here asking that they change it for me. I will work harder, continuing on with my objectives. I wouldn't even dream about giving away my tactics on how I'm achieving my goals.
