With that attack boost can you use previous age troops and beat troops with no boosts?

I can attack SAJM troops (I'm in SAM) and but I've been doing that since FE

SAT expansions and newer event buildings make for a fair bit extra, just a pity the troops are terrible!

they are now Attacking Army ......Attack 4386 Defence 3262
Defending Army .....Attack 2789 Defence 2419

These are without the bonuses of The Forgotten Temple or Tourney Grounds
