How long to wait for guild member to return? (inactivity)

What are peoples thoughts on inactive guild members, we have one of the most loyal players you could wish for but he's recently been in hospital to have an operation, he was quite ill beforehand too though in pm's was feeling better, the last contact was 8 days ago where he was seeing the specialist which would have been last Monday and nothing ever since. I really don't wish to think the worst though if he's in hospital he'd obviously have more important things on his mind. I'd loathe to remove him and then he turn up the next day, I don't think that would be very kind.

What is the big deal really? They are out of guild for a week and then can return. A very minor thing. Whereas the guild is punished by keeping the inactive player in guild (i.e. higher GE costs, GbG costs, etc). Remove the player on Monday if not back yet. It is not as if you are saying you are banning the player for inactivity.

I worry if they are inactive for like 5minutes! imagine not being logged in! :O How dare people logout! this game is your life!

In all seriousness I say a week with no warning/messages telling you about downtime is long enough, after that kick with a message sent that they will be re-invited if/when they come back.

For this case its up to you, as you say they are loyal AND gave reason, which would mean I'd give them a month or more, depending.

We don't operate like other guilds with mandatory 64 GE every week or else-omg, answer all questions within 10 minutes lol, (actually i recently had a neurotic player having the worst bout of tourettes at me because i wasn't here to help him farm, it was 98 degrees and i decided a long cold shower would be wonderful- sorry for having some RL time to myself teehee and maybe he should've had one too and no, not with me. ) anyhow, though i'm aware it goes on and a bit of a headache, we're not too fussed about keeping him sitting here regardless of the cost, in the realm of things it isn't much and he's put in a lot of effort to the guild anyhow..my angst is the actually anxiety over worrying in case the worst has happened and I was merely wondering whether to keep him even if it does mean it may be just in spirit.

@Goremise yes he had said about the heart operation prior but it was just very sudden because he seemed in good spirits the day before so we're none the wiser x

Affy.

I'm sure if you sent him a wee message explaining it that's what I do and send him a invite straight away as long as he is active that is , they get booted but alos get a nice message explaining why .. he will understand
