How do I demolish old buildings in order to build new ones?

Open your "build menu" then look at the top center of your village screen. You'll see three extra tools under the forge points. THe dollar sign is to sell structures. The fat arrows are for moving things. The third one cancels the other two.

Welcome to the forums. The search gizmo in the upper right quadrant is very helpful - if you'd entered demolish into it, you would've found your answer. Enjoy the game!
