Perhaps Inno could get an intern or two to go through and tidy up all the inline coding that has been rendered defunct by the move

In particular the very popular guides by Byeordie on buildings and special buildings are now very difficult to use as the internal links no longer work and the inline tables are broken

Forum is oversized at the moment. Have to scroll right before I can read everything. And I miss the old smileys. :(

We'll be doing this gradually. I've started reformatting the GB encyclopedia thread but need to fiddle with the code a bit more to figure out some of the commands I'm missing and then it should go easier.

Sadly the old ones are gone, but I've added some new ones though not the ones I wanted to add (unfortunately the files I had seem to have been corrupted and can't be used, so now I have to see if I can recover them somehow).

You can't upload an image or use a bbcode for an image to display. That's why my signature broke. :P You have to use a link to an image from somewhere else. It should work if you do the following: http://prntscr.com/9dca4g then just place your link and after clicking insert it should turn into an image.

I will have to check what smileys we can or can't use. Will try to get an answer before folks go MIA for the holidays.

i've screenshot the image and loaded it with lightshot then pasted the lightshot link into the box as asked but it still won't work

the image is a JPEG file..... 430 x 215 pixels and 43 kb in size, surely thats not too big.?

Ah, I think the lightshot link is what's causing the problem. Technically that's not a direct link to the image, but a link to the lightshot website where the image is stored. If you use an image hosting site they'll let you get a "direct link" to the file.

For example see the links for the smileys byeordie left above, they lead to the smiley itself and nothing else. Lightshot does not allow this, all their links lead to their site.

ahh, i follow you.......... rather than upload a pic to a hosting site i need to use a pic already on the www.?

this means it must be original, ie i can't screenshot it, edit it etc and then upload it.?

It took me a few tries but I found the right link to copy and paste so that it directly linked the image and not the website (as Darkstar mentioned). I'm using Dropbox, just placed the sig in the public folder and then had to find the direct link ("Copy public link..." seemed to work instead of the "share" button).

Hey Akbhoy, put this code in your signature:

(The link is from the image, from the link of your image, from your signature, I didn't upload it or anything. I guess Lightshot/Prntscr is a branch off of Imgur then?)
