The FoE AI seems to always favor attacking Special Units first, even ignoring a weak Standard Unit that it could easily eliminate, in order to hit a Champion, Color Bearer, Drummer, or Rogue. This is something I exploit extensively in Guild Expeditions, typically with 1 Heavy and 1 Fast/Champion, and 6 Rogues. I let the AI beat itself to death on my Rogues, and send my Fast forward as quickly as possible to attack his Ranged and Artillery, making sure to be outside of any Ranged Attack Zone on the first move. My casualties are always light, with very few casualties.
Being able to competently fight in Guild Expeditions will always be lower in cost, and more rewarding than Negotiations, and has carry-over skills for Continent Map and GvG battles against AI Units.
