Diminishing returns on my arctic ship ...

I keep sending my ship to get promethium, but whichever crew I send the strength of the ship decreases and the amount of promethium decreases too. Will I be able to get enough promethium to progress before the ship dies? Is there any other way to get promethium than via the ship?

Repair the ship

Click on the harbour, click the other tab (not the crew one) and press repair - costs goods
