Completing Past Special Event Buildings

It would be nice if one could 'gain' or purchase upgrades to past Special Event Buildings during forthcoming events or as quests during expeditions or surprise events .
Getting 560 coins when I have >10M or 560 supplies when I have > 7M is hardly a welcome surprise...
It might be nice if one could 'buy' for Coins or Supplies them even though I admit that would rather simplify the game somewhat
