Proposal:
Collaboration with LibreOffice (a Free and Open Source software project. Community-driven and developed software, available in 115 languages, a project of the not-for-profit organization, The Document Foundation).
Reason:
Games such as FoE involve keeping track of several kinds of detailed information and statistics. Gameplay is cool and fun, but tracking stats is an obstacle for some players.
Details:
Forge of Empires creates an option for the download of various gameplay stats as a textfile (such as CSV). LibreOffice volunteers, probably in collaboration with a volunteer team of experienced Forge players, create high-quality spreadsheets to track and analyze data. LibreOffice gets publicity. FoE offers an enhanced experience to its players, potentially in several different languages. Players get cool spreadsheets and the ability to track and (crucially) update stuff with one or two mouse clicks. [Note that tracking things by manually updating a self-made spreadsheet is currently a burdensome task.]
Examples from the "Event History" and "Current Contributions to Great Buildings" content (on Town Hall --> News): For the Great Buildings tab, given the total current FP contribution, your current contribution, and the contribution of up to 5 other players, calculate the minimum FPs you need to donate to guarantee 1st thru 5th ranks [Note that these minimum numbers shrink as other players donate and "crowd each other out".] For Events History, track each Friend's contribution to Aid/Tavern sit, how long they have been your friend, etc.
Visual Aids:
None, but note that there is currently a large amount of empty space next to the "Event History" and "Current Contributions to Great Buildings" buttons.
Balance:
No deleterious impact on other game features. No adjustments or changes.
Abuse Prevention:
No possible exploits, no options for cheating. No information is uploaded; only downloaded.
Summary:
I've only been playing the game for a bit less than a month, and tracking these things is already a burden. This is win-win-win for FoE, its players, and LibreOffice.
