City shield activated while at the battle

The opponent has activated city shield while I was in the fight with his troops.
At the sudden I got the notification that I have to retreat.
Since retreat was NOT my choice, the troops I lost at the fight, should NOT count. I was ROBBED by a bad-programmed part of the game (or decision of it's developers).

I can't argue with you there....if the battle is started then you should be able to finish it regardless of what else is done, even plunder. Your army's already inside the gates, it's too late to shut them out.

Yes, every battle that already was started should not be affected by the city shield. At least if the battle ends in a normal length of time. If you take 1 hours time for finishing the battle I would see that different, even if the length of fight would be due to internet issues or what ever.

Doesn't stop you closing the gates and killing whoever is inside though...

But I agree that a forced retreat from the City Shield shouldn't kill troops as a rule.
Could even make it realistic... If the attacking player has previously plundered the city then the troops are deemed "lost to an angry mob", otherwise they just get thrown out (back into the attackers army) and told not to come back.
