I think it would be wise to add 2, 6 and 12 hours timer.

(There is no 'because'.)

A slider wouldn't be a bad idea, do away with preformed production times, use instead a calculation based on how long you set the buildings production to, up to 48 hours in goods buildings and 24 hours in everything else.

Of course for buildings that have not only different production times but different things they can produce....it gets a little murky.

With the slider, the lag would be greater than it currently is, especially when you need to gather or set productions. Also, the events rely on the different times to give a variety of quests. Imagine the problems if you have to complete 30 15 min productions and half of them you set to 31 or 29 in your rush. That would be a pain.
