For the reward. The idea is you’re working towards earning a specific building. If you aren’t interested in completing the requirements that OK. You don’t have to touch the settlements

Yea I'm slowly going thru Egypt again. I delayed for quite awhile, then started it.
Just not happy with it, but not much you can do about it.

Each of the settlements has a main reward building which is quite good.
Vikings - Yggdrasil lvl 9
Japan - Shinto Temple lvl 9
Egypt - Royal Bathhouse lvl 6
Aztecs - Sun Temple lvl 9
Mughal - Mughal Temple lvl 6

Some of the secondary reward buildings are good too.

Also, if you build the Flying Island GB, you can get quite a few 1-ups from your settlement (plus fps and goods).

But the main reason I am persevering with the settlements is I am a completionist and it is a goal that keeps me interested in the game.

p.s. I only play on one world too. Trying to manage multiple worlds just seems like overkill. And I feel the diamond farms are a bit of a rip-off.

So that's how you get Yggdrasil up in levels.
Now what about the levels on Winners circcle or Athlon abby. How do you raise those levels.
OK, so there is a purpose behind doing it multiple times. I just thought it was for the ambassadors alone.
Yea one world is enough for me now a day. I've played a few with up to 7 accounts running and it's just non stop, no time to do anything but the game.

Finnally placed tower of Babel today. I thought it would be a waste of space as I don't have a population issue thanks to the last few events and some menageries pop is almost 1400 + so I saw no need. Did Not know how fast the pop on the TOB rose before today, so I placed it.

I don't use Babel for the pop - it is a terrific goods building same as LoA both with small footprints (4x4) especially at higher ages where goods buildings become huge.
Winner's Plaza and Athlon Abbey upgrades are only available from the events.

I spent a fair bit of time in some of the ages but then decided I wanted to "finish the game" so I zoomed along to SAV.
It was a fun ride.
