Personally, yes, I'd find the feature useful. The 1.9 BE threads can change by the second and it could be very useful (especially when hunting for BPs) to be able to tell right away if I have enough FPs to take the top slots.
Why would you find it useful?

You obviously use FoE helper (as stated in another thread) so your total FP is already displayed at the top of the browser so you do not need it.

You can already see the amount of FP in your inventory if you open any GB or the tech tree.

True, but the point is that when you have a BE message thread open it would be nice to be able to quickly assess which slot you can take (if any) - there's a good reason why numerous users requested and like the feature in the FoE Helper ...

You could check before you open the message thread.

What is requested in FoE helper is totally irrelevant. Discuss that on their forum.

Proposal: Have a display showing the amount of Forge Points in your inventory

Have you checked the forums for the same or similar idea: Checked, haven't found any.

Reason: It would make it more convenient. Instead of having to enter the inventory, Great Building contribution tab, Buy Forge points tab, etc.

Details: It would be similar to the current era goods, with how many of each type of package and a total of all the Forge Points put together.

Visual Aids: None

Balance/Abuse Prevention: None

this one you mean ?

You can already see your sum , but i don't mind if you could see it in other places aswell...
@Agent327 you can put a sticker if they do it , so you can only see it from 1 place :)

On the top bar we currently have:
  • Points. Who cares about that, and anyway it is available on the ranking screen;
  • Population. Available any time population is being used, so why have it on the top of the screen all the time? There are always screen notices for deductions and additions.
  • Drop-down for current goods. Available any time goods are being used or in the inventory or in the market, so why have it on the top of the screen all the time? There are always screen notices for deductions and additions.
  • Coins. Once any city is stable, (i.e. during Iron Age or the player will be struggling), it's just a number that keeps going up. Available any time coins are being used, so why have it on the top of the screen all the time? There are always screen notices for deductions and additions.
  • Supply. See Coins.
  • Medals. Available any time medals are being used, straight on the builder menu, so why have it on the top of the screen all the time? There are always screen notices for deductions and additions.
  • Diamonds. Available any time diamonds may be used, so why have it on the top of the screen all the time? There are always screen notices for deductions and additions.
What we do NOT have:
  • Total in FP Packs. An amount that can change in the background without notice, that can affect play from moment to moment. So why not have it on the top of the screen all the time?
  • (Slipping this in for inclusivity, not as a suggestion) An indication of the unit readiness/health. Again, something that changes in the background with no notice and which can affect play from moment to moment. Note that I am not making this as a suggestion, just pointing it out.
Having the FP total available at a glance, particularly updating accurately (something FoE Helper is struggling with) would be one of the most useful always-available data to have.

I'm a bit baffled by this reaction. Why is it a bad idea to suggest something that immediately fulfills the OP's suggestion?
No need to get baffled. It is stated in the rules of the game. We do not support nor encourage the use the 3rd party software (and in fact it is more strongly worded in the rules). And no such discussion will be made here to suggest users to use such things.

Understood. :)

Good idea, simple to implement, an albeit minor time saver and of benefit to all Players without making the Game easier.
+1, vote cast, thanks for the suggestion.

You could check before you open the message thread.
Yes, you could. But that value can change behind the scenes without your knowledge. How often are you to keep checking other places (always loading screenfuls of information you don't want, creating more network traffic and server load) instead of just glancing up, as you can with most other types of currency.

I can't see why anyone who thinks about it, doesn't wonder why it hasn't been there already, for many years.

What is requested in FoE helper is totally irrelevant. Discuss that on their forum.
It is not irrelevant. It is a feature wanted on FoE, and shown to be popular in 3rd party software (which Inno discourage the use of).

The popularity of features in third-party software is clearly not an irrelevance: it is a simple (and cheap) way for Inno to know what users really would like. They certainly seemed to have taken notice of the growing trend of alternate noticeboards and are bringing out an improved message centre, for example.
