I have a guild mate who can break a 500%+ defence. Most defences can be beaten so don't get upset, work on improving your attack to retaliate.

Probably the defender don't know how to build counter defense. Anyway, considering defense AI very stupid I believe that is achievable.

There is no such thing as an unbeatable defense. Sure you can be lucky in defense with the right units and the luck of the terrain, but those are incidents. There is no fixed defense that can beat all attackers.

While it is true that points do not necessarily indicate military prowess, it is often the case that players with lots of points tend to have a good army. I'll give you that.

That being said, there are two reasons why Inno will not separate high-ranking players from lower-ranking players in the neighbourhood. The first one is that then there'd be less incentive to create an attacker account. Part of the reason that some people specialise their city in attacking and plundering is that they want to attack and plunder. If everyone in the neighbourhood is a big fish, then there's no reason to be one. The second one is that there'd be less incentive for everyone else to log in. If you're hardly ever going to have anyone trying to plunder you regardless of your defence, then there's no reason to make sure you log in on time to collect your productions. Without something to make sure players keep coming to the game, they end up drifting away sooner. That's basically why the combat system is so out of whack. It is in Inno's best interest to make sure that the only real defence against plundering is collecting on time.

I am not sure that you're right about not being able to attack back. Even if the enemy has a higher defence bonus than you're attack bonus, it isn't particularly hard to break a defence. Unless you haven't levelled up your attack GBs in a while, you should be able to break most defences.

At any rate, as I've already said, the only real thing that you can do about it is collect your productions on time. You can also become one of the big fish in the neighbourhood. It isn't all that hard. Just read through the Fandom Wiki, watch some YouTube tutorials, or something like that (you can also drop by https://forum.en.forgeofempires.com/index.php?threads/week-45-2018-03-12.35325/ we're always happy to help with anything we can). Getting a few tips is very helpful.
I've it busy so collecting on time is sometimes impossible for me. Well, I rest the case and don't mind whether I loose some Fps . Further I don't earn us$ or € , and these currencies are expensive for me to buy. Also we don't have Pay Pall and credit cards are hard to get. I said this because that's why I can't buy more expansions, which can give me more space to build. All this doesn't mean that I've it bad in my personal live. It's just the economic system is different. Low income, low costs of living. High income, high costs of living.

This is exactly why a new player just quits the game.
Even though I'm in a nice hood, I still get plundered by the #1 in the hood.

I'm EMA on this game but reading old threads by people from CA, they have been plundered by players from The Future, with no way to defend themselves - except the 24 hr attack cooldown.

Unfortunately, this is a war game, and there's nothing InnoGames is going to do to change the battle system, regardless of how many complaints they receive

Yes. I'm stuck on the word "unfortunately" as well.

If I'm playing a game of chess, and you take my queen with your king, and if I blame you? Then I should have picked checkers instead.

Within 3 days of starting this game, with a little reading, with a couple of questions to my Guildies, I discovered how easy it is to not loose your goods: harvest them all at once at the same time every day.

Candy Crush? Sim City? Hmm... Forge of Empires. Tells you something right there I think.

Well if you sign up to play a war game and then complain when another player takes you to war then you really have no business playing a war game.
That's not what I meant. I'm saying I know this is a war game, and I just have to live with it.

Every player has to at some point

Nice of you to read old posts, but that can not happen any more for some time now.

This isn't a war game and you have plenty options to defend yourself.

You're right. Anything that happened in the past was the past. Maybe this game has changed. Maybe people don't constantly plunder anymore.

Maybe...

Players still plunder, but players from The Future do not plunder players from CA, so your reading has been a total waste of time.

I suppose it could have happened. I recently made a jump from HMA to FE. If the carnival event was on at the same time, hoods stayed the same for a few weeks allowing players to progress, staying with the same neighbours.

Not buying Diamonds means that I must get as many Medal expansionsd as there are available. To do that takes medals. Main source of Medals for me is PvP. Each age I race ahead and secure the next age PvP tower by negotiation and the two or three next era troops that have so far always been available towards the end of your current age from story quests.. Including these in your PvP battles and by careful selection of opponents you can win medals way above your pay grade. As an earlier ager playing next age opponents the rewards are high and I regularly top the PvP tables of both my current age and the next.
When it comes to points, these battles accrue so many that even though this method restricts my advancement into the next age I still consistently pass players with more advanced towns.

What exactly is your point here?

For more than a year now there has been a new neighbourhood merging system, which makes it very unlikely that players that are in CA will have a player that is in The Future in their neighbourhood, let alone "players". What you have been reading and arer presenting here as a fact is nothing more than outdated complaints.

It is way easier to bring up your Frontenac and to start doing recurring quests.

Medals are indeed boosted. I have mine at LV10. Instead of gettin 75 I get 188. Not bad. Lots of FP packs too though there is no boost for them.
