The thing that bugs me is the fact that Inno have added all that extra extra space, room for 86 addition expansions. And they made such a big thing about increasing the grid size and being able to expand our cities and have more room for event buildings. But it benefits absolutely no-one right now Or anyone in the very near future.
Yeah, it might benefit players in several months time or in a couple of years time when they reach particular levels in the Castle or when they reach eras beyond SAV.
The Inno representative statement which has since been edited and now makes no mention of “having more room for event buildings”, states: “…expand the city grid, allowing you to place new expansions”. To me this implies that once the update is applied we will be able to place new expansions.

Why doesn’t Inno allow us to take advantage of the extra grid space NOW so we can by making more expansions available to purchase either with Gold, Diamonds or Medals.

That seems like a problem with either your Guild's name or the browser you are using. I am using Firefox and there is no such issue. Here:

Or maybe it got fixed after your post was made.

You answered your own question: The extra space is for the future, so Inno does nto have to expand the grid every time they add new expansions. It also lets you plan your city ahead of time, because you can see which direction you can expand in.

If people could fill all the extra space now, they would do so, then complain they have ran out of space and demand to know when we will get more space.

In a rush of a sudden? There are shortcuts now that didn't really used to be available for expansions (Arc for medals being the biggest one that springs to mind, before that it was quite slow gaining medal expansion) GE for diamonds so available for free play but the games always been quite long term to get things, expansions especially.

Years sounds about right for getting all the expansions and same as last time they expanded everything with the same set up. At least they added some as next era would have been even more limited on additional space.
