There are SAAB players with 2.5k defense boosts, that means that a 800 def SAAB heavy unit actually has a defense of 20000, how are you supposed to beat 20000 def without active skills? You can and could only beat that with a missle launch, and a first strike + a few critical strikes, otherwise it is not doable and unbalanced..

One question: since the campaign map sections that had PvP towers as the reward had it replaced with coins and supplies, will these be taken away or will it stay?

Not sure why you have de-activeted here so early I was just getting used to it and as I dont have beta access learning about it.

However here is my feedback, It should be a straight contest between who has the best defence and best attack combined. It seems to me that a lot of the people who dont like it are those that have not bothered with a defence, well thats their choice but as far as I am concerned without PVP Arena they are obviousley correct what is the point of having a defence in this game without the current balancing of the new PVP Arena.

I also think the rewards are out of step with the rewards you get in GE and GBG compared to the amount of effort you put in, so give better rewards

Lastly I would suggest you remove the ability to buy more fights with diamonds or medals as this then just reverts who has more medals or pays more money rather than reflecting a true competition between two peoples armies of their strength and weknesses ie Attack and Defence.

In conclusion I dont understand why you didnt give it a chance to settle down and see how it pans out, but give better rewards and remove the ability to buy more fights as we should all be able to compare like with like as to number of fights :)

We will leave this thread open until tomorrow night so by all means, share some suggestions here and I will see that they are forwarded
There are two areas that have to be improved:

1. Matchmaking
The idea to have different Eras is not bad. It makes it more interesting and challenging not only when I win against high Era player but also when I lose from Low Era player. My proposal is to keep but adjust it as follow:

Hard +2 Eras, Medium -1,0,+1 Eras, Easy -2 Eras.

2. Abuse prevention
Current version is easy for abuse in case you have been matched with a friend or a guild member. Therefore my proposal is:
- Friends and Guild members to be excluded.
- Changing defense army in PVP Arena to have a cooldown period until the next round.

Further clarification on #2 -- Agreed -- there was probably all kinds of unseen abuse going on with the way it was.

Hey guild mate or friend place a rouge for me -- I get the 200, 100 whatever for doing the nothing defense battle for a power house.

After the win:

Hey guild mate or friend - replace your army back to the way it was.

A tremendous abuse too neither I nor others and most likely FOE PvA creators even considered. Very good point @JassVM

Cool down for army change sounds good - I'd say 24 hours -- changing armies should not be a haphazard thing just to pad scores for some friends and guild mates

I still prefer 1 week (until next round starts). 24 hours is hard to calculate considering time zones. Not to mention that you can make a change before 00:00 CEST and another one 1min later.

Certainly - when I say 24hours - it can't be like the foolishness in GvG - the release & retake abuse is off the charts with that one (they really should fix that) any way - there should be no problem using one of the other functions that work correctly.
But, on the 1 week note - if they get it wrong as in GvG - then 1 week a month any time window would be abused.

On the time zone subject --- as a programmer & data systems developer -- I can say just use the UTC clock function it takes into account ALL time zones around the world and will give a valid 24 hour window, a one week window or what ever time window you wish regardless of time zones.

As far as the 24 hour problem -- many developers have a problem with the transition thru midnight - All of the latest programming languages should have dealt with that by now and it should not be a problem to use a timespan object to get the desired time window value!

Thank you Inno for finally listening! I think there are still unanswered questions about how this feature was released to start with, even for Beta. If it's because most Devs don't play the game then I hope these feedback sessions brought them closer to understanding the player base.

Please do take ALL the time you need before relaunching PvP arena. Please think it through and don't half bake it. And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE move away from the soccer event mechanics. It's bound to produce a feature that'll be utterly uninteresting. It just doesn't provide enough complexity for any competition based on it to be interesting.

The most vocal objection was of course how unfair and broken the matchmaking system is, but please make no mistake this wasn't the only problem. The same way earlier on the most vocal objection on Beta was the lack of manual fights, but when this was added the feedback kept being overwhelmingly negative. It really needs a new concept altogether. An interesting concept! This should've been obvious to the devs from the very start, and my biggest disappointment was that they somehow failed to see that for a long time. So please take your time and think this through! Thank you again!

As someone who enjoys the odd fight or two think I did the first 5 fights and then never went back. If you've got plenty of time to sit around all day then great but not something I will be going back to even if it's relaunched I much prefer the tower points approach.

Here's a thought...GET RID OF IT FOR EVER! PvP Arena is a stupid idea, it doesn't work so don't even try to fix it. Just fire the person who created the idea in the first place.

It's not a terribad feature/idea at all, it simply wasn't well thought out, let alone anywhere close to ready for actual launch to ANY servers...

IMHO, what it really needs is:
1. Era-based Leagues
Basically, try to set up 5-6 different leagues across each server, grouping 3-4 eras together within the potential opponent pool.
ie: 'Basic' league = EMA + HMA + LMA eras, then it 'graduates' the next league up with Colonial + Industrial + Progressive, etc...

At least this way, while there will always still be small frys vs. sharks, it's not so beyond absurd as seeing Space Marines slaughtering sword&board infantry. (...we're not 40k by any means, so please, this game isn't actually supposed to be completely stupid!;))

2. Better Prizes
Leave victory medals out of it completely. More chances at things like Reno/1-UP kits, WW+shrink kit/SoK fragments, various atk/def boosters, era-troops, etc...

Also, it wouldn't hurt to dream up a unique reward building, similar to how GbG's have both the Statue of Honour + Road to Victory buildings.
Being a battle-centric feature, ideally we could win various amounts of fragments (determined via your overall Tower ranking) for a building, or even buildings, that would offer boosts to *both* the attacking or defending armies!
...or else a 'main' building that boosts one side, with a secondary building that chains onto it... perhaps even adding some medals and/or a couple units per daily collection.

3. Leave. The. 'Hood. Towers. As. They. Are!!
Seriously, don't delete these. Many players enjoy the local 'hood challenge of seeing who can come out on top each week, AND, even more importantly, they still provide a function for all those 100's - 1000's of previous/much earlier era units that otherwise would never get used outside of the tiny minority who play the browser-only GvG feature.

Yes, was actually thinking about that. Some of the rewards could be fragments or upgrade kits for a special PvP building.

Do I have to mention that Inno has turned a game where you could spend 1h daily and stay competitive in to a game where you need to spend 20h a day grinding to be competitive? Repetitive Events, short periods between events, short periods between GBG seasons, I mean last 2 weeks was heaven for my mind without a event to worry about, and the last 3 days without GBG was actually heaven for the mind of my entire guild as well! many Top players of Greinfetal have quit the game because Inno turned it in to a heavy grind based game, it's like WoW all over again, it's grind grind grind grind grind 0 FUN, grind grind grind and 0 FUN! and MORE GRIND! BOOOORING!

I think the problem stems from being fully immersed in it. It's a common problem amongst games or in fact any area or specialism. If you imagine what it's like for developers, artists etc involved with this game. Playing it, developing ideas, storyboarding, testing. It's their job, so they're fully immersed in it. The problem comes from having more and more features and ideas. People who play this game have jobs, lives, kids - that are completely outside of and unconnected to this game. Although developers live, eat breathe the game, the rest of us have a life that involves unrelated work. This sometimes can be completely overlooked by those in the thick of things. It's just human nature that the group of people you are around (at work primarily, but also socially/socio-economically), shapes your view of the world. Sometimes this game is a grind, and I've also enjoyed the break between events - and for sure enjoy the break between GBG. Wish the breaks were longer really.
