Post announcements direct to game mailboxes as text

It is obvious from the numerous questions and comments related to the same issue (most lately the calendar feature in the summer event) that announcements or text relating to updates or changes to e.g. events, are not reaching their audience. There are, for example, in game messages about an event starting, but again, the nerf in the summer event was not sent out, instead there seems to be an expectation that players maybe go back to the original announcement to see if there may be an update. Even with those event-related announcements, why not just send the full text directly to the in game messaging board, rather than then require a click through to forum announcements?
